What are good antivirus programs for windows this year?

by admin on March 9, 2010

At home we are currently using McAfee and it has served us pretty well, our contract is almost over though and we will need to get another one, we have heard that although mcafee is good it’s not the best, what are good, reliable and of a good price for several computers? Is Vipre any good?

I always liked Avast which is small and efficient. Also been using AVG pro, Kaspersky and NOD32 – all better than Mcafee or Norton in my opinion.

Only single antivirus cannot help you in tough situations .
You need a combination of softwares to help protect ur PC and optimize it .
Here is the combination that I use
Avast antivirus > Malwarebytes > Super Antispyware > Comodo Firewall .

u can use AVG or Avira FREE in place of Avast , thats ur choice
As Far as avast is concerned , u need to register for free , give them ur email address and
they will send u a free licence key for avast (i.e. for 1 year ) and u are entitled to use
the software for 1 year !

**********U can get the above on following addresses – ***************
Avast – http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
AVG – http://www.free.avg.com/
Avira – http://www.free-av.com/

Malwarebytes – http://www.malwarebytes.org/

SuperAntispyware – http://www.superantispyware.com/download.html

***********Any one of the following Firewalls – **************

Comodo Firewall – http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

Zone Alarm Free Firewall
http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/zonealarm-pc-security-free-firewall.htm

***********Also add McAfee SiteAdvisor to your tally of softwares , its free and you can safely browse
web .
http://www.siteadvisor.com/download/ie.html

***********For PC Tune-up , go for Advanced System Care Free
http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html

These apps work in combo to protect ur PC , and provide rock solid protection against
viruses ,and all are free !

Good Luck

paid
in order of detection
and this is not my testing just known facts
G Data internet sec.2010 # 1—poor rootkit detection — 24 b for 1 year
norton internet– close but not the star like G data—-it lets the anti virus 2009 an it’s spurs pass by n load –not good
kaspersky internet 2010—- same as norton on letting anti virus and internet 2010 load not good
avira premium very good and has the best rootkit detector
nod32 average in detection

free only 2
avira and avast
beyound that ur on ur own with ur bad habbits
remember vista –than why would m/s security essentials be any better —in the same catigory as panda cloud/avg/clam-good comcept but doesn’t deliver–oh for got windows defender

McAfee, Kaspersky, and Norton if setup properly. – Are my personal favorits.

If I were you, I would go with Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast. I mean why pay for something free?

Before attempting to install any newer Anti Virus program
be sure to completely remove all the McAfee files by using
the McAfee uninstall tool

You can find the
McAfee Removal tool
at this McAfee support page

http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

You can browse through the Anti Virus program list at
FileHippo to help you decide

http://www.filehippo.com/software/antivi…

The top 3 FREE programs are

AVIRA
Avast
Avg

Microsoft has a new A/v program out as well
that is ranking some what high as well called
Security Essentials

any ONE of these should do well

Only install ONE Anti Virus program
to avoid any program conflicts

I’ve always been partial to
AVIRA myself

I use Avast! Home Edition and it serves me well.less false alarms than avira threw off.(there way of thrying to buy the premium edition).if you want an all in one protection you can pay for avast pro and cover everything and you get to chose your contract period.but avast free edition covers malware, viruses, adware, trojen horses, adware, and many more
